Maryse Lassonde, O.C., O.Q., FRSC, FCAHS

Scientific Director, Quebec Natural Sciences and Technology Granting Agency; President, Royal Society of Canada (Montréal, QC)

Professor Lassonde is the Scientific Director of the Quebec Natural Sciences and Technology Granting Agency, and President of the Royal Society of Canada (2015 to 2017).

Professor Lassonde completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the Université de Montréal and a PhD at Stanford University. She went on to become a professor at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (1977 to 1988), and the Université de Montréal, where she became Professor Emeritus in 2013. Professor Lassonde has been named Honorary Professor at the University of Auckland and at the Université de Paris V.

Since the beginning of her career, Professor Lassonde has studied several topics, including cognitive development in infants, childhood epilepsy and the effects of sports concussions on the brain. She has published seven books, and over 300 book chapters and articles in scientific journals. She is a member of several editorial committees. Professor Lassonde is a Fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association (1994), the Royal Society of Canada (1997), the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (2010) and was Canada Research Chair in Developmental Neuropsychology from 2001 to 2013. Professor Lassonde was President of the Association francophone pour le Savoir (ACFAS) in 1993 and President of the National Order of Quebec Council (2008 to 2010). She has received several other awards and distinctions. Among them, Professor Lassonde was named Chevalière, National Order of Quebec (1999) and Officer of the Order of Canada (2012).
