Suzanne Loney

Research Associate

Suzanne Loney is a Research Associate at the Council of Canadian Academies (CCA). She is responsible for researching, writing, and providing project management support for various assessments.

She joined the CCA in 2012 and since that time has worked with several expert panels covering topics such as policing, science culture, climate change, and science policy. She enjoys learning from leading experts on a diverse range of topics, and working with the panel members to document and synthesize the evidence base for each assessment. Suzanne has also worked to refine the CCA’s research methodology and information management practices.

Prior to joining CCA, Suzanne held several positions within the Government of Canada. Most recently, Suzanne worked as a Policy Advisor at the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy where she conducted research and developed reports on the economics of climate change impacts and adaptation as well as private sector adaptation. Suzanne also worked in program and policy analyst positions with the Treasury Board Secretariat and Environment Canada. At Environment Canada, Suzanne’s work focussed on designing emissions trading and greenhouse gas offset systems. Suzanne’s early career experience included work with Corporate Knights magazine and the Standards Council of Canada.

Suzanne has a Bachelor of Arts, Economics from McGill University and a Master of Arts, Economics from the University of Ottawa where she focussed her studies on environmental economics.

At the CCA, Suzanne has worked on the Prioritizing Climate Change Risks and Integrated Natural Resource Management assessments.
